Book Blitz: Center Ice by Cate Cameron

Hey guys!

Welcome to another book blitz. :)

About the Book:
Title: Center Ice (Corrigan Falls Raider)
Author: Cate Cameron
Publisher: Entangled Crush
Publication Date: May 19, 2015

Description:
The hometown hockey hero won’t know what hit him…

Karen Webber is in small-town hell. After her mother’s death, she moved to Corrigan Falls to live with strangers—her dad and his perfect, shiny new family—and there doesn’t seem to be room for a city girl with a chip on her shoulder. The only person who makes her feel like a real human being is Tyler MacDonald.

But Karen isn’t interested in starting something with a player. And that’s all she keeps hearing about Tyler.

Corrigan Falls is a hockey town, and Tyler’s the star player. But the viselike pressure from his father and his agent are sending him dangerously close to the edge. All people see is hockey—except Karen. Now they’ve managed to find something in each other that they both desperately need. And for the first time, Tyler is playing for keeps…

About the Author:
Cate Cameron grew up in the city but moved to the country in her mid-twenties and isn't looking back. Most of her writing deals with people living and loving in small towns or right out in the sticks - when there aren't entertainment options on every corner, other people get a lot more interesting!

She likes to write stories about real people struggling with real issues. YA, NA, or contemporary romance, her books are connected by their emphasis on subtle humor and characters who are trying to do the right thing, even when it would be a lot easier to do something wrong.

Interview with Cate Cameron:

Q: What one thing should readers know about your hero?
A: Hmmm… I think readers should know that Tyler is an excellent hockey player! He’s insecure and has good reason to be – he knows he could get injured before he makes the big league, he knows how competitive it is, with people from all over the world coming to play hockey in the NHL. And because half the book is from Tyler’s perspective and he’s insecure, and the other half is from Karen’s perspective and she knows nothing about hockey, it really might seem as if Tyler is a struggling player.

But he gets drafted in the coming June, absolutely. He goes first round – maybe even first pick.
He’s a really good player!

Q: What one thing should readers know about your heroine?
A: I think readers should know that Karen at the start of the book isn’t the Karen who existed a couple weeks earlier. She and her mom were really close, and her mom’s death has left her angry and confused and miserable. So she’s not super-sympathetic at the start of the book, but I think there’s good reason for that!

Q: What authors and/or books have inspired you?
A: I’m a voracious reader and get inspired by practically every book I pick up, but the stories I know have had lasting impact are the ones I read when I was younger. The Outsiders, with all those tragic boys on their own, trying to solve life’s problems without any guidance… and A Separate Peace, with… all those tragic boys on their own, without any guidance… huh. And now I’m writing about OHL players, taken away from their families at sixteen and trying to make sense of life without any guidance… I think I may be noticing a trend.

Q: What are you working on next?
A: I’m actually working on the sequel to Centre Ice! This one’s called Playing Defense and it’s about Chris Winslow falling for his tutor, Claudia. I really loved writing Chris in Center Ice, so it’s been totally fun to get to spend a whole book with him. Claudia is really uptight and serious, and Chris has been great for getting her to relax a little and just have some fun.

Love Triangles…Love ‘em or Can’t stand ‘em? – they make me anxious. I don’t like them
Peanut M&Ms or Plain? plain
Pizza or chocolate? PIZZA!
The Vampire Diaries or Game of Thrones? Game of Thrones
Matthew Macfadyen Mr. Darcy or Colin Firth Mr. Darcy? Colin Firth. I thought Macfadyen did a good job, but Colin Firth IS Mr. Darcy.

Q: What do you like best about being a writer? What is the most challenging part?
A: I like getting to live all the different lives with my characters, creating people who I’d love to hang out with in real life.

I hate… well, honestly, I’m not crazy about promo. I love chatting with people and just getting excited about books and stories and whatever, but I’m always a bit torn when it comes time to mention my own work. I feel like I’ve just made all these nice friends and now I’m cheapening that by trying to make them spend money! I’m just not a natural salesperson at ALL. So generally I follow the “Best promotion is the next book” approach, and try to do most of my promo via writing more stories!

Q: What does a typical writing day look for you?
A: When I’ve got the chance to write full time, I tend to be pretty scattered. Half-an-hour working on a story, then check e-mail and Facebook and writers’ boards, then back to the story, then I have to check something out on the internet, then back to writing, then pick up and move to another location, then put in in a load of laundry, then write some more, then check e-mail, etc. I don’t really isolate myself and get immersive.

Q: Describe your writing cave.
A: Have laptop, will travel. I have a home office, but in the winter I’ll work in front of the fireplace a lot, and in the summer I like to write outside. I also often get ideas when I’m driving, and will pull over and dictate ideas into my phone so I can try them out when I get home.

The one thing that’s in common with all of my writing locations, except for maybe the car, is Jack, my yellow lab. He hears all my story ideas before I type them up, and he approves of every single one. (Which actually shows that he’s not a very critical thinker, because some of my ideas are just plain stupid. This is why dogs are very rarely hired to be editors.)

Q: Who is your favorite book boyfriend?
A: I’m going with Austen, but NOT Mr. Darcy! Persuasion is my favourite Austen novel, and despite the less-than-sexy name, Frederick Wentworth is my favourite Austen hero. He’s so patient, and strong, and he forgives Anne and sees her in ways no one else does. Sigh. So romantic!

Hey guys!

So, I made these petitions and was hoping you guys could sign. :D So here is a little bit about them and the links to sign them. Also they are as a html on the side of this blog. ----->

First petition:
School Uniforms. What child likes to wear uniforms? My friends and I certainly don't. There is no one in the schools that I've been to - and have a uniform - like to wear them. We believe that we all should have the right to dress. What if it is in the wash or drying and you can't go to the store to buy it? What will you do? All you can do is get in trouble. They don't accept excuses. Some schools just give you a warning. However, some schools give you detention for it! Now, who wants that?! You may just wear the wrong shoes by accident or wrong jacket. Well, there's nothing you can do about it. You're doomed! So sign this petition to get rid of the awful uniforms! Link: http://www.change.org/petitions/schools-no-more-uniforms
